Ana Prvacki: Finding Comfort in an Uncomfortable Imagination: A Catalogue of Ideas (2015)

Exhibition catalog for a show that ran December 12, 2015 through February 3, 2016

Softcover, 135 pages, 8.25 x 11.75 inches

For Ana Prvački first major solo exhibition in Singapore, Ana Prvački empties the gallery, presenting a sparsely furnished reading room for her new 136-page full-colour book of ideas and new writing. Along with the book, her exhibition presents a series of simple postures designed to eliminate common physical afflictions arising from overuse, such as stiff neck and tennis elbow. The gallery becomes a space for rejuvenating the body and mind through reading.

The new book takes the form of an illustrated guide, presenting concepts and protocols developed by Prvački. It contains reflections and essays by curators Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, Raimundas Malašauskas, Chus Martinez, and Bala Starr.

During the opening and at points throughout the exhibition, staff and students from Diploma and BA (Hons) Dance at LASALLE College of the Arts, and professional dancers, will demonstrate a selection of the reading postures in the gallery.
