John Baldessari: Pure Beauty.
Jessica Morgan and Leslie Jones, 2009.

Hardcover, 324 pp., 240 illustrations, many in color, 12 x 10 x 1 inches.

John Baldessari: Pure Beauty was published in conjunction with a major exhibition organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Tate Modern in London which also travelled to Spain and will be seen in New York City. For nearly five decades Los Angeles artist John Baldessari has challenged our ways of viewing art, images, and text. With nearly 250 illustrations and a wide range of insightful essays, it’s the “must have” book on a legendary California artist who is also one of the most influential figures in contemporary art.

Eleven essays by critics, curators, art historians, and an artist and former student of Baldessari's round out this lavish and comprehensive volume. The hardcover edition features a pull-out poster.

Jessica Morgan is Curator of Contemporary Art, Tate Modern, London. Leslie Jones is Associate Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
