Curated by Bruce W. Ferguson with essays by Jean-Christophe Ammann and Donald Kuspit, the catalogue Eric Fischl Paintings is in very good condition. Published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name, Eric Fischl Paintings originated at Mandel Art Gallery in Saskatoon Canada and travelled to 6 institutions from 1985-1986.
Ammann's question, "Eric Fischl's View: Whom Does it Belong?" is an apt question while deciphering the 'bad boy' painter's pictures. Consistently provocative, Fischl's paintings are both voyeuristic and documentary to a point of intimacy that viewers can either revel in or flee. It is very difficult to look away from the revealing and often shocking artist's conjurings.
This particular exhibition, surveys Fischl's paintings between 1979-1984.
