John Mason Installations from the Hudson River Series was published on the occasion of the artists exhibition which travelled to 6 museums in the U.S. Consisting of 10 separate but interrelated sculptures, each installation was designed specifically for each museum. Each of the 10 environmental works were installed at 2 week intervals spread over a total of 3 months.
The photographs in John Mason Installations from the Hudson River Series document the process of crews placing the bricks in precise configurations and later the finished, installed groupings.
John Mason Installations from the Hudson River Series includes a period and influential essay by Rosalind Krauss. The essay demonstrates her "expanded field" philosophy which she intelligently applies and historicizes to Mason's practice.
