In 1970 Otto Mühl founded a commune in Vienna. The experiment was an offshoot of the ‘Aktionismus’, a Viennese version of the happenings in New York, lead by meanwhile legendary artists such as Nitsch, Schwarzkogler, and Brus. The happenings – ‘Aktionen’ – were an effort to lift all kinds of taboo in art.

The publication studies Otto Mühl's work through his paintings. It also presents photographs, documentary films and performances realized by the artist and texts written by him over the last forty years.
